Back in 2007, I decided to plant a tiny vineyard. I'd grown interested in wine and in growing grapes, so I thought I'd give it a go. This would be an Urban Vineyard located just off the South Circular in Lee, Lewisham, South East London. Having secured an allotment and then completed a crash course in viticulture at the Plumpton Wine Division near Lewes, I purchased 48 vines and the project began.
The books that were then available to help would be novice viticulturalists were good, but a bit dated and not up to date with current practices, so I decided to write a handbook for other would be amateaur vignerons. Thrown in among the detailed how-to guide, I wove a gentle tale of family enterprise and involvement.
The book is a guide to growing grapes in your own back garden or on an allotment, and on then to making your own great tasting wine in a kitchen winery. Salut!

This little film was shot some time ago by my then 8 year old son. While the narrative and camerawork is outstanding for an 8 year old, the resolution has suffered somewhat. But it gives you a flavour of the Urban Vineyard in action.
